Great news! Jon started anastrozole at the end of May which works to regulate estrogen so that testosterone levels increase. It's actually an off-label medication for men with semen issues and is meant for women with breast cancer. The urologist explained that at the one month point he needed to get his blood work done to see if the medication was helping. If it is working then he would expect to see improved semen analysis results 2-3 months following the first dose and see if its improved his semen analysis. It's been 6.5 weeks since he started taking it and he went in for blood work 2.5 weeks ago.
We just got home from the cabin and the lab results had finally come in the mail (I've been patiently waiting for these lab results for the last 1.5 weeks). Jon's total free active testosterone which is calculated by the ratio of testosterone to estrogen (meaning total testosterone that are actually "active" apparently) was below normal in March, and is now well above normal as of June 20th!! His testosterone increased by 50%! What great news and so relieved! We will not be able to repeat the swim test until late August unless....we get pregnant before then ;) Here's to finally having things go our way after 15 months of TTC! Here's to newfound hope!
